What is An Invisible Disability?

Whether or not a person uses an assistive device, such as a wheelchair, walker or cane, people can have what are called, Invisible Disabilities. This term refers to a person's symptoms such as extreme fatigue, dizziness, pain, weakness, cognitive impairments, etc. that cause mild to severe limitations in one's life. People living with ID's may or may not be Work-Disabled.

What People Are Saying About My IDC

"I certainly don't have to tell you how great the IDA site, the community, the book, and all the rest is, but I'm going to tell you anyway! They're GREAT! And they have all made a huge difference in my life and, of course, so many others. Thank you so much for all that you do." ~Margie

"I feel so fortunate to have been invited to join this community by my special e-pal, Lynne. I didn't realize how isolated I had become over the past few years and how much I needed support. I have also been shown how blessed one can feel by the act of giving. This site has made such a positive impact on my life and I find myself looking forward to each new day. I find the site to be full of comprehensive information and ways to meet the emotional needs of people living with chronic illness. Thanks for paving the way to this community."
~Kelli

To me, like so many others, IDA has given my life a new meaning. There is no way to get rid of RSD, but there is a way to make it positive the best one can. Being a member of My IDC has made that possible for me. I find myself researching other diseases to better understand what my fellow members go through each day. I find that my experiences with RSD have helped others that have it better understand RSD. So, I would never have had the opportunity to meet all my wonderful IDA friends with out having RSD. I must say, I still would rather be living without all the pain and problems from my disease, but I have learned to turn into something positive since it's gonna be with me no matter what. Thanks to you IDA, the opportunity is possible. I love everyone involved with making this site a hit! You have changes so many lives here. I will be a part of the IDC as long as I live. ~Conni
